IOP Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center
An in-depth look at our Intensive Outpatient Program
Recovering from addiction often involves a step-based approach to treatment and rehabilitation. This is often dependent on the prevailing manifestations at the time of the comprehensive medical, clinical, psychiatric, and behavioral health assessment. The more severe and complex the condition is, the greater is the need for; medical supervision, round-the-clock monitoring, more aggressive treatments, and more intensive approaches. In the same manner, an individual slowly progressing through their ordeal can also benefit from a step-down approach to care. This gradually introduces the individual to greater freedoms, less structure, and more real-life experiences. One of these treatment approaches and one that Sprout Health Group is truly proud of is the Intensive Out-Patient Treatment Program.
This program can be considered as a step down in the level of care from a Partial Hospitalization Program. It can also be considered a notch higher than ordinary outpatient programs because all of the treatment plans are highly individualized. Comprehensive patient assessments dictate the kind of treatment that will be designed and developed in order to achieve optimum therapeutic value. These treatment programs will still rely on individualized psychological counseling, as well as structured group and family therapy sessions, in order to allow the individual to gain mastery of skills that will be needed to help them stay sober and addiction-free in the real world.
What is interesting in the Intensive Outpatient Program is the fact that the individual can still maintain some sense of normalcy in their lives. As the treatment sessions can take anywhere from a few hours to 5-6 hours every day and can be scheduled in such a way that the treatment sessions can be held in the evening or even at night, this provides a tremendous advantage to individuals who may have other responsibilities during the day. Teenagers can still go to school during the day and attend their treatment sessions right after school. Mothers taking care of their children can still tend to the needs of their little ones as well as the whole family before attending the treatment sessions in the IOP treatment center. Individuals with careers can still fulfill their work obligations while at the same time making concrete efforts to leading a life free from substance abuse or chemical dependence.
However, like the Partial Hospitalization Program, individuals in an IOP setup must have a strong desire and motivation to get rid of psychoactive substances in their life. The individual must also have the necessary support system to help them accomplish their treatment and recovery goals. And while an IOP will prepare individuals in managing their stresses that may play a significant role in their substance abuse, they will still require the support of aftercare support groups so that they will have a greater chance of success in leading a life free from alcohol and drugs.
